Which queue should the non-EU spouse go through to cross the border with their EU citizen partner?
Dear clients and readers,
We have recently read on the news a very interesting question posed by a UK citizen person regarding which queue should the non-EU spouse go through to cross the border in Spain with their EU citizen partner, we are glad to share it with all of you.
Likewise, we are often asked if you have residency and a TIE card but hold a British passport. Can you go through the EU passport gates?
The “Europe Contract Centre” has issued recently a very clear and informative response in this regard. Please see below and attached for your perusal:
CONCLUSION
Therefore, if you are for example not travelling with an EU spouse, it will depend on the individual airport and border control. Some allow, some don’t. We have a client who arrived at Alicante in a big queue, and had little time to get on the bus, so in the end. So, he decided it was safer to queue in the non-EU queue rather than risk getting moved to the back of the queue by trying the EU gate first.
Likewise, we have another client who came back from London to Alicante with her Spanish husband. Showed her TIE also with her passport, and on the way out and in, she was allowed to go with her husband, and hasn’t had any problems with to cross the border in Spain so far.
